A black linen midi skirt with a classic mid-century silhouette.
Blending the clean lines of a 1950s cut with elements of the traditional Ukrainian plakhta skirt, this design features a full pleated shape, side pockets, and a discreet back zipper. The linen fabric gives the skirt structure while remaining comfortable and breathable.
The skirt is inspired by Vera Lyalko, founder of the NGO Help the Citizens of Ukraine. Vera speaks of destroyed homes, lost lives, and her ongoing efforts to protect and rescue civilians affected by the war.
The hem is embroidered with the names of Ukrainian cities enduring daily attacks, framed by traditional jacquard trims. In Ukrainian culture, embroidery has long held protective meaning. Stitched along hems, cuffs, and necklines, it was believed to guard the wearer by keeping harm at bay.
The jacquard trims feature rhombuses and crosses—symbols associated with field, fruitfulness, family, and harmony.
The Vera Skirt can be worn as a party, evening, or wedding guest skirt, styled with a blouse and pumps, or dressed down with a simple T-shirt and sneakers.
