Ana – Black A-Line Midi Skirt with Silk Details

$325.00

A black A-line midi skirt with a structured, mid-century silhouette.

Inspired by 1940s design, this skirt is crafted from sturdy cotton and features side pockets and an invisible zipper at the back.

The skirt is dedicated to Ana Recio Harvey, Mexican entrepreneur and CEO of Dupont Underground, a cultural space in Washington, D.C. that brings together experimental art, community, and public engagement. The hem is adorned with hand-dyed silk ribbons arranged to resemble a bouquet, echoing Ana’s commitment to creating space for artists and collective expression.

The design draws on Ana’s childhood memories of celebrating Día de los Muertos at her grandmother’s home, where papel flores filled altars with color and meaning. Rooted in pre-Hispanic ritual traditions and later shaped by colonial influence, these flowers symbolize life, joy, and impermanence.

The bouquet motif also references the first exhibition Ana brought to Dupont Underground, featuring Macmo Colectivo (Mujeres Artistas Creando Movimiento)—a union of women artists from Oaxaca who came together to support one another and claim visibility. Here, the flowers appear as many distinct elements forming a single composition.
