The Threads of Migration at El Museo del Barrio — La Primera Awards NYC
On May 7, we had the honor of participating in a catwalk at El Museo del Barrio in New York, organized by The Brooklyn Fashion Incubator. This catwalk took place during La Primera Awards. Created by Latino Magazine, the awards recognize outstanding achievements within the Latino community, celebrating Latino voices and artistry through fashion.
As part of the show, we presented three skirts from TheThreads of Migration, each one inspired by the story of a remarkable woman from Latin America whose journeys reflect resilience and female excellence.
Among them was a skirt inspired by Mariela Dabbah — our newest hero from Argentina, and the founder of Red Shoe Movement. Mariela is widely recognized for her work advancing leadership and career development opportunities for Latina women in the workplace. She is also the author of several books, including the award-winning Find Your Inner Red Shoes.
The other skirts featured were the Stefanny Skirt and the Ana Skirt, inspired by our heroes Stefanny Sarich (Bolivia) and Ana Harvey (Mexico). Being able to share these stories on the runway, in a space dedicated to uplifting Latino voices and artistry, was an incredibly meaningful moment for our project.
