Mid-calf lace skirt featuring an intricate pomegranate motif and a discreet back zipper. Inspired by Georgian choreographer and Synetic Theater co-founder Irina Tsikurishvili, the design evokes the black swan from Swan Lake. Trained as a ballerina in Tbilisi, she came of age during the collapse of the Soviet Union, living through civil war, scarcity, and daily violence. She later moved to the United States, where she co-founded her own theater and went on to create more than ninety productions rooted in movement and wordless storytelling.
Black references traditional Georgian dress, while the lace pomegranates—an enduring national symbol—speak to continuity and survival.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, television programming disappeared, and Swan Lake played endlessly across every channel; the skirt echoes that moment, capturing a passage from collapse to reinvention.
