Talk at the Intercultural Center — Georgetown University

Panel discussion at Georgetown University ICC featuring Threads of Migration, with speakers sharing Jewish and Uyghur migration stories

On April 14, we were invited to present a conversation at the Intercultural Center (ICC) at Georgetown University. The discussion was led by Professor Jessica Roda and brought together voices from The Threads of Migration to speak about migration, identity, and lived experience.

The event featured Tursunay Ziyawudun and Sureyya Kashgary, Uyghur activists, alongside Ella Kogan, a former refusenik. Through personal stories, the conversation moved across different historical moments — from the Soviet Union in the 1970s–1980s to China in the 1990s and more recent events in Xinjiang — creating a dialogue that connected generations and geographies through shared experiences of displacement and resilience.
